Odisha Police rescue 12-year-old girl sold in Madhya Pradesh
The victim was allegedly drugged and abducted from Sambalpur district before being sold for Rs 1.5 lakh in Damoh.
Odisha Police have rescued a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly drugged, kidnapped from Sambalpur district, and sold in Madhya Pradesh for Rs 1.5 lakh, according to Odisha Bytes.
The girl's family filed a missing person report at the Hirakud police station on October 30 after she disappeared from the area.
A special task force tracked the movement of suspected traffickers across state borders and located the child in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh.
During the rescue operation, police arrested the prime suspect, identified as Shivshankar Yadav.
Investigators suspect the girl was drugged before her abduction to stop her from resisting during transport to Madhya Pradesh. The case has uncovered evidence of an inter-state human trafficking syndicate.
Police believe three women played active roles in the deception and kidnapping. Efforts are currently underway to find and detain all other co-conspirators in the racket.
