Delhi Police ACP Manasvi Vashishta suspended for violation of discipline

The suspension follows a protest led by the officer outside the police headquarters on Monday regarding recent transfers.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashishta has been suspended for violation of discipline, according to The Hindu. Vashishta led approximately 100 police personnel in a protest outside Gate No. 1 of the Delhi Police headquarters on Monday, November 2, 2026.

The protest was held to demand a meeting with Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar regarding the recent transfer of Vashishta and Station House Officer (SHO) Arun Kumar. The two officers were transferred following a clash with lawyers at the Shahdara police station after an October 23 altercation where an advocate allegedly sustained a head injury.

Lawyers had launched an indefinite strike, alleging that Vashishta and Arun Kumar threatened advocates who visited the station regarding the assault case involving Lalit Bansal. The lawyers called off their strike after the transfer orders were issued.

During the protest, Vashishta stated that the personnel had conveyed their demands to the Commissioner and that the matters were being discussed. The protesters sought several measures, including a standard operating procedure for confrontations with lawyers and a limit of five lawyers entering a station at one time.

Other demands included registering FIRs against lawyers allegedly involved in misconduct and establishing a dedicated cell at headquarters to address complaints against lawyers. The personnel also requested the deployment of police in courts to manage incidents of violence and misbehaviour.
