Andhra Pradesh CM orders efforts to prevent loss of lives from Cyclone Murasu
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to focus on drinking water, power supply, and road connectivity as the cyclone impacts several districts.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to take all possible measures to prevent loss of lives during Cyclone Murasu, according to The Hindu.
During a teleconference with senior state administration officials and District Collectors, Naidu advised citizens to follow government advisories until the cyclone passes.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the cyclone made landfall near Ongole, causing trees to be uprooted and creating widespread waterlogging in agricultural fields in Nellore district.
Power supply has been disrupted in parts of Palnadu, Markapur, and Guntur districts, though restoration works are currently in progress.
Naidu stated that the cyclone's effects are likely to subside by the night of November 3, but noted the next four to five hours are crucial due to expected rains in Bapatla, Guntur, Prakasam, Palnadu, Krishna, NTR, Eluru, and West Godavari districts.
The Chief Minister ordered that restoration works be carried out on a war-footing in the badly affected Prakasam and Bapatla districts.
