Stalin criticises Tamil Nadu development under TVK government
DMK chief M K Stalin alleged that the state's growth has stalled under Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) supremo M K Stalin on Monday criticised the TVK government, accusing it of taking Tamil Nadu into "reverse gear," according to reports by Deccan Chronicle and ANI.
Stalin claimed that the state's growth story has stalled under Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. He alleged that Korean investments worth ₹1,614 crore, intended for Tamil Nadu, went to Andhra Pradesh due to negligence by the current administration.
The DMK chief also stated that Tamil Nadu's GST revenue growth has fallen below the national average. He further alleged that the agency Guidance_TN has been sacrificed to the egos of individuals within the administration.
These remarks followed a post by Tiruchuli MLA Thangam Thenarasu, who expressed concern over a decline in economic performance. Thenarasu noted that in October, Tamil Nadu recorded 3 per cent GST revenue growth, while neighbouring Kerala recorded 23 per cent, Andhra Pradesh 24 per cent, Karnataka 18 per cent, and Telangana 14 per cent.
Thenarasu stated that while taxes on imported goods contributed to a modest increase in revenue, revenue from domestic production continues to decline. He urged the government to boost domestic production to strengthen the economy and create employment.
On October 30, Stalin also accused the TVK-led government of failing to maintain law and order and lacking proper administrative oversight.
