Electricity supply restored to Aska urban area after Cyclone Arnab

TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited deployed 6,500 personnel to repair infrastructure damaged by flooding and heavy rainfall in Ganjam district.

Electricity has been fully returned to the Aska urban area in Ganjam district after Cyclone Arnab caused heavy rainfall and severe flooding, according to Pragativadi.

The cyclone left the area inundated with deep mud, debris, and widespread waterlogging that blocked access to electrical installations. Restoration crews worked continuously to fix damaged infrastructure and dry out submerged equipment.

To speed up recovery across its eight-district service area in Southern Odisha, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) sent approximately 6,500 workers to the field. This team included power engineers, utility officials, and various project workers.

The operation used 400 specialised vehicles, six mobile distribution substations, and 16 transit stores to provide emergency hardware to affected zones. These resources supported the workforce in replacing damaged assets while following safety protocols.

Division teams are currently assessing rural areas and performing safety checks. They are working to stabilise the power grid across the region to restore normalcy for Ganjam residents.
