Former DYFI secretary arrested in Palakkad for using fake mark list

K.V. Ganapathy allegedly used a forged University of Calicut document to secure a contractual position at Puthukkode grama panchayat.

The Vadakkenchery police arrested K.V. Ganapathy on Monday for allegedly using a fraudulent BCom mark list to obtain a job at Puthukkode grama panchayat in Palakkad, according to The Hindu.

Ganapathy, a former unit secretary of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), was employed as an IT assistant and accountant within the panchayat’s employment guarantee scheme section.

He joined the panchayat on a contract basis in July 2021 during the Left Democratic Front (LDF) administration and was scheduled to remain in the role until July 2026.

The matter surfaced after the United Democratic Front (UDF) took power in the recent local body elections and declined to extend his contract.

While Ganapathy obtained a High Court order to continue his post until September 2026, the new panchayat administration grew suspicious during a reinstatement verification process.

Authorities sent his submitted mark list to the University of Calicut, which confirmed the document was fake and that Ganapathy had not completed the BCom degree.
