NTK office-bearers urge Seeman to seek DMK and AIADMK support

The decision by NTK chief coordinator Seeman to contest the Ambasamudram Assembly bypoll has sparked internal debate over fielding a common candidate.

Senior office-bearers of the NTK are debating whether chief coordinator Seeman should seek support from the DMK and AIADMK to field him as a common candidate for the Ambasamudram Assembly bypoll, according to The Hindu.

A senior party office-bearer stated that Seeman has faced internal pressure to contact the leadership of both the DMK and the AIADMK. However, Seeman told officials that such an action would contradict the core principles of the NTK.

The decision to contest has reportedly energised the party cadre following a decline in the vote share during this year's Assembly elections, which fell from 8 per cent to approximately 4 per cent.

A party leader noted that fielding a common candidate might not be feasible due to the current political dynamics in the state. They added that the announcement of Seeman's candidacy has led to these speculations.

While Seeman is not expected to formally ask for support from the DMK or AIADMK, party sources said he would welcome it if those parties chose not to contest the election.
