Police station in-charge killed by truck in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district

Khategaon Sub-Inspector Dilip Puri died on Sunday night while attempting to intercept a truck allegedly transporting illicit liquor.

A police station in-charge died on Sunday night after being run over by a truck on the Harda-Nemawar highway in Dewas district, according to Telangana Today.

Khategaon Police Station in-charge Dilip Puri, a 2007-batch Sub-Inspector, died on the spot during a police operation to intercept a vehicle suspected of carrying illicit liquor.

Dewas Superintendent of Police Aditya Mishra had organised over five police teams to stop the truck, which was allegedly travelling from Harda to Gujarat via Indore.

The teams included station in-charges from Kannod, Satwas, and Khategaon, with barricades placed at multiple locations to halt the vehicle.

Reports state that a scuffle occurred when Puri approached the driver, who had stopped to drink water, and the driver allegedly tried to flee in the truck.

Puri fell and was run over by the rear wheel of the vehicle, registration number MP 43 H 4786, which was found loaded with liquor.

Police have arrested the driver and seized the truck, while officials are investigating the involvement of Rahul Jaiswal of Harda and others in the smuggling network.
