LG Sinha inaugurates 1,416 transit flats for PM Package employees in Kashmir
The residential complexes in Srinagar, Budgam and Kupwara aim to facilitate the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandit families.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday opened 1,416 transit accommodation units for employees recruited under the Prime Minister's Package at three locations in the Kashmir Valley, according to the Kashmir Observer.
The residential complexes were inaugurated at Zewan in Srinagar, while the sites at Kakan Maran in Budgam and Kulangam Bagh in Kupwara were opened through virtual mode.
Sinha stated that the completion of these flats would improve living conditions for employees and support the return of Kashmiri Pandit families to the Valley.
The Zewan complex in Srinagar is the largest, containing 936 flats across 39 blocks, all of which have been allotted.
The Kulangam Bagh complex in Kupwara has 288 flats across 18 blocks, and the Kakan Maran complex in Budgam includes 192 flats across 12 blocks.
The broader transit accommodation project intends to build 6,000 flats across 20 locations in 10 districts. Officials noted that over 5,200 flats have been completed and more than 3,800 have been allotted so far.
