Amitabh Bachchan slams media outlet for twisting Lord Krishna invocation
The actor stated that 10 per cent of his 50 million followers are ready to strike back if he gives the signal.
Actor Amitabh Bachchan on Monday criticised a media outlet for misrepresenting his words regarding a praise of Lord Krishna. According to the Hindustan Times, the 84-year-old superstar expressed anger on social media, claiming a media outlet twisted his invocation for publicity.
The dispute began after Bachchan posted an invocation on October 29, saying, "Go bring your elephants, we will also... Haathi ghoda palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal ki." He alleged a media outlet reported this as a challenge to opponents to "Bring your elephants and horses."
Bachchan responded in Hindi that the chant is a prayer for Krishna Kanhaiya and called the reporting a "grave insult" to the invocation. He stated that the media's actions were a deliberate attempt to twist his words.
Addressing the media, Bachchan said that he has a 50 million-strong follower base and that 10 per cent of them are ready to strike the day he gives the signal. He added on X that his followers, whom he calls his extended family, have the capacity to respond if his words are condemned.
The actor, who has 44.7 million followers on X and 36.2 million on Instagram, also noted that while people apologise for mistakes, the media treats such reporting as a birthright.
Bachchan recently greeted fans behind bulletproof glass at his Mumbai residence. This security follows an October 23 email sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi threatening bomb blasts at his home and a concert venue.
