Ireland batter Rebecca Stokell accepts voluntary suspension for anti-doping breach

The cricketer admitted to an unintentional violation regarding the reporting of prescription medication following an in-competition test.

Ireland women’s batter Rebecca Stokell has entered a voluntary suspension after admitting to an anti-doping rule violation, according to The Hawk.

The breach involved reporting requirements for prescription medication used by the player. Stokell is currently awaiting the results of an International Cricket Council (ICC) investigation.

The sample in question was taken during an in-competition test on June 23, 2026. Her suspension has been active since October 23, 2026.

Stokell, who has played 29 ODIs and 80 T20Is, stated she accepts her mistake and hopes to return to playing for Ireland soon. She noted the substance was not performance-related but acknowledged her responsibility to follow Anti-Doping Guidelines.

The ICC said in a statement on Monday that Stokell was notified of an alleged violation after a sample returned an adverse finding for a Specified Substance. The council added it will not comment further until the matter is resolved.

Cricket Ireland director of high performance Graeme West said the organisation is supporting Stokell. He noted the incident serves as a reminder to international players to adhere to expected standards and responsibilities.
