Vaishnaw reviews manufacturing of India's first indigenous bullet train

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the production of the B28 trainset at a Bengaluru facility on Sunday.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the manufacturing progress of the B28, India's first indigenously made bullet train, at the BEML ADITYA facility in Bengaluru on Sunday, according to reports by Times Now and Deccan Herald.

The Minister inspected specialised infrastructure, such as precision-engineered jigs and fixtures for carbody fabrication. He also observed various production stages, including underframe, sidewall, roof assembly, and surface treatment.

During the visit, Vaishnaw witnessed a 'Squeeze Test' to evaluate the structural strength and stability of the carbody under controlled forces. He also examined passenger seats, the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, and couplers.

The 202 metres long train will consist of eight coaches with a capacity for 557 passengers. It is designed to reach a maximum speed of 280 kmph and will operate at 249 kmph.

The trainset is intended for use on the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. This project is expected to be fully operational by December 2029.
