Karnataka: KEA to hold written exam for government PU college principals

The examination for 216 Grade A principal posts will proceed on November 20 and 22 despite requests for postponement.

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will conduct written examinations for the direct recruitment of government PU college principals on November 20 and 22, according to The Hindu.

The KEA is holding the exam to fill 216 vacant Grade A principal positions. Lecturers with over 10 years of service in a college are eligible to sit for the test.

The Karnataka State PU College Lecturers’ Association had requested a one-month delay for the exams. Ninge Gowda, President of the association, said the KEA should have scheduled the test 90 days after the October 30 application deadline.

Aspirants must take papers on General Studies, Kannada, and Karnataka Civil Services Rules (KCSR). One lecturer noted that non-academic duties and the length of the KCSR paper leave little time for preparation since the September 3 notification.

An office-bearer of the association stated that top scorers will be selected for the vacancies as there are no minimum marks. They added that it is better for candidates to attend the exam as scheduled rather than seeking a postponement.

KEA Director H. Prasanna said the authority will proceed with the examination as planned, with 2,839 candidates expected to appear.
