Cyclone Murasu to bring light rain to parts of West Bengal

The cyclonic storm is expected to make landfall on the south Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday.

Cyclone Murasu has developed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and is expected to hit the south Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday, according to reports from Hindustan Times and The Hawk.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Kolkata stated that while the system will not have a direct impact on West Bengal, it may cause scattered light to moderate rain in southern districts until Wednesday.

Affected areas in south Bengal likely to see rainfall include Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, and West Midnapore.

The storm is expected to cross the coast between Nellore and Araku on Tuesday morning with wind speeds of 100 to 110 kmph and gusts reaching 120 kmph.

Meteorologists noted that the cyclone's intensity will be lower than that of Cyclone Arnab. The system is expected to move towards Telangana and Maharashtra after hitting Andhra Pradesh.

Regarding temperature, the RMC said there will be no significant changes for the next three days. Dry weather is expected to prevail from November 5, after which minimum temperatures may drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
