Congress running liquor business to fund party office, alleges Vishwas Sarang
Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang accused Congress leaders of involvement in an illegal liquor trade following the death of a police officer.
Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang on Monday accused Congress leaders of involvement in an alleged illegal liquor trade in the state, according to ANI.
Sarang alleged that Rahul Jaiswal, the Congress in-charge for the Khategaon Assembly constituency, and his brother Manish Jaiswal are partners in a liquor shop in Timarni. He claimed the business is being run to meet the expenses of the party office.
The allegations follow an operation in Dewas district where a police station in-charge, Dilip Puri, was crushed to death by a truck carrying alcohol. An official said police seized the vehicle and recovered over 1,800 litres of alcohol.
Sarang further alleged that liquor mafias funded the expenses of Congress workers who travelled to Delhi on November 1. He stated that strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the death of Puri, who was posted at Khategaon police station. The Chief Minister instructed an impartial investigation and announced Rs 1 crore financial assistance for the bereaved family.
Mohan Yadav also directed that the wife of the deceased officer be given a compassionate appointment to the post of Sub-Inspector (SI).
