Amitabh Bachchan greets fans from behind bulletproof glass in Mumbai
The actor maintained his Sunday tradition at Jalsa despite heightened security following bomb threat reports.
Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan greeted fans from behind a 12-foot-tall bulletproof glass enclosure at his Mumbai residence, Jalsa, on Sunday. The veteran actor stood behind the transparent shell, which was installed on an elevated platform, to continue his weekly tradition of meeting admirers.
According to The Indian Express, actor Abhishek Bachchan was present during the interaction and was seen monitoring the security arrangements. Heavy security was deployed around the premises.
The heightened security follows reports of a bomb threat email received by Mumbai Police on October 23. The email, which included pro-Khalistan slogans and was attributed to a group called the Khalistan National Army, mentioned Bachchan's residence and suggested dates of October 31 and November 27 for alleged attacks.
The Indian Express also reported that attackers involved in a recent shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff had reportedly visited the residences of Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan but could not open fire due to tight security.
Bachchan recently expressed displeasure on social media regarding media reports that he claimed misinterpreted his devotional chant to Lord Krishna as a challenge to opponents. He clarified that the prayer was an invocation and criticised the media for twisting his words.
On the professional front, Bachchan is currently hosting the quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
