Authorities recover bodies of all six victims in Uttarakhand chopper crash
The mortal remains were transported to AIIMS Rishikesh after rescue teams recovered them from a remote hillside near Joshimath.
The Chamoli district administration said on Sunday that the mortal remains of all six people killed in a helicopter crash near Joshimath in Uttarakhand were recovered and sent to AIIMS, Rishikesh.
According to reports from The Hindu, the chopper crashed on a hillside near Chai village on Friday while returning to Dehradun from the Badrinath shrine.
Rescue teams carried the bodies out on foot via difficult mountain paths due to the inaccessible and high-altitude terrain.
The recovery operation, which began on Friday, took over 24 hours to complete because of the remote location and challenging conditions.
The deceased included a pilot from Delhi and five pilgrims from Karnataka, according to The Hindu.
The mortal remains were brought to the Community Health Centre in Joshimath by road and then sent to AIIMS, Rishikesh, by helicopter after completing necessary formalities.
Joint search operations were conducted by the Indian Army, ITBP, SDRF, NDRF, police, district administration, and the Forest Department.
