Three senior police officers in Guwahati have been transferred, including two members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the October 26 shooting at Hotel Bilas Inn, according to The Assam Tribune.
DCP (Central) Shambhavi Mishra has been moved to the post of Commandant of the 6 APBn in Silchar, with Mrinal Deka, principal of the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, taking her place. ADCP (Central) Viku L Achumi, also an SIT member, has been posted as second-in-command of the 28 APBn in Barpeta, to be replaced by Lakhipur CDSP Prithwiraj Rajkhowa.
ACP (Panbazar) Partha Pratim Duwarah has been transferred to the 1 APBn as Assistant Commandant, with APS officer Rishav Phukan replacing him. Mishra and Achumi were part of the six-member SIT led by Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain.
The shooting in the Ulubari area resulted in five deaths and reportedly followed a disagreement regarding the hotel's management and lease. The main accused, Ghanakanta Gogoi, was arrested on the night of the incident and is due in court on November 3.
Gogoi's wife, Jonmoni Gogoi, appeared before Dhemaji Police on October 31 after being untraceable for several days. She expressed a willingness to assist investigators, though her advocate raised concerns regarding threats to her and her child's lives.
