Class 10 student dies of cardiac arrest at Indore sports complex

The 15-year-old boy collapsed while warming up at the Atal Sports Complex on Saturday evening.

A 15-year-old Class 10 student died after suffering a cardiac arrest during a warm-up session at the Atal Sports Complex in Indore on Saturday evening, according to The Times of India.

The student, identified as Kanishk Boyak, arrived at the Scheme-78 facility around 6 pm with a friend and his elder brother, Divyansh.

Divyansh stated that Kanishk fell while standing and sustained injuries. He attempted to perform CPR, and other players assisted, but the boy was later taken by car to Life Care Hospital.

Doctors at the hospital admitted the student to the ICU and tried to resuscitate him, but he could not be saved. The family noted that doctors suspected a heart-related issue.

Additional DCP Amrendra Singh said a preliminary post-mortem report identified cardiac arrest as the cause of death. Divyansh mentioned that Kanishk had experienced a similar episode when he was seven or eight years old.

Cardiologist Dr Girish Kawthekar said that sudden cardiac arrest cases are increasing among young, active individuals and advised families with such histories to undergo cardiac screening.
