Three Kuki community members killed in Manipur gunfight
The Kuki Inpi Manipur has alleged that Naga militant groups were responsible for the deaths in Noney district.
Three people from the Kuki community died during a gunfight between rival armed groups in Manipur's Noney district on Saturday, according to The New Indian Express and The Hindu.
The clash occurred on the morning of October 31 at Kekru Naga village. The exchange of fire lasted for several hours in the forested hill area.
A police officer identified the deceased as Thanglensang Singson, Thangkhosei Haokip, and Lamminsang Kipgen. They were from the interior parts of Thanlon and Henglep in Churachandpur district.
Kuki civil organisations described the three individuals as village volunteers. Police stated that necessary security measures have been implemented in the region.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), which is the apex body of the Kuki community, issued a statement condemning the deaths. KIM alleged that Naga militant groups were behind the incident.
The organisation has called for immediate action from the State government and demanded accountability and justice.
