Australia captain Pat Cummins hints at Test changes after South Africa defeat

Australia lost the third Test at Newlands, resulting in a 1-2 series defeat and a loss of their top ICC ranking.

Australia captain Pat Cummins suggested the team might undergo changes to personnel and playing style after South Africa won the third Test at Newlands on Saturday. According to the Times of India, South Africa won the match by 176 runs to secure a 2-1 series victory.

The defeat caused Australia to lose its number one position in the ICC Test rankings. The team also fell to third in the World Test Championship standings, behind South Africa and New Zealand.

Australia was bowled out for 111 while chasing a target of 288. Kagiso Rabada took two wickets in the first over, and off-spinner Simon Harmer claimed career-best figures of 6 for 16 in 21.1 overs.

Cummins told journalists that the team would assess whether changes were required ahead of a busy Test schedule. He stated that the side needs to improve to return to the number one ranking.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said the series win reflected his team's character. He noted that the bowling attack has been the backbone of their success.

Harmer was named Player of the Match after finishing with figures of 10 for 120.
