Telangana Cyber Security Bureau reaches 15.48 lakh people through awareness drives

The bureau conducted 24,886 programmes across the state to combat cybercrime until October 2026.

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) reached 15.48 lakh people through 24,886 awareness programmes across the state until October 2026. The bureau's month-long campaign began on October 1 with a flash walk at Necklace Road in Hyderabad and ended with statewide Night Flash Walks on October 30 and 31.

During October, 4,248 programmes were organised. Police units held outreach sessions in community gatherings, public spaces, and educational institutions, including special initiatives during Navratri, Dandiya, and Bathukamma celebrations.

TGCSB Director Shikha Goel said cyber security awareness is a continuous and systematic initiative rather than a monthly activity. She stated the bureau uses strategies based on specific fraud methods and victim groups to teach people about preventive measures.

The bureau is also using initiatives like 'Pause. Think. Verify.', 'Suraksha Ka Tiranga', and 'Online but Unafraid' under the 'Fraud Ka Fullstop' campaign to increase public participation, Goel said.

Financial losses related to cybercrime fell by 20.2 per cent between January-September 2026, dropping to Rs 881.72 crore from Rs 1,104.42 crore during the same period in 2025. However, the amount placed under lien in fraudsters' bank accounts rose by 42.2 per cent, from Rs 183.11 crore to Rs 260.30 crore.
