Bhadla Solar Park to test technology for power generation after sunset

The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited has approved an NTPC proposal for a 320-kW pilot project at the Bhadla site.

The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) has approved a proposal by NTPC to set up a 320-kW pilot Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project at Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan.

The project intends to test a method of keeping solar energy as heat within specific ceramic modules to provide power after the sun goes down.

This pilot will utilise ceramic thermal energy storage technology created by the US-based firm 247Solar.

NTPC will collaborate with RRECL to carry out the testing at the Bhadla location.

The electricity produced by this pilot project is intended solely for the auxiliary and internal use of the NTPC plant.

The RRECL approval allows for the commencement of structural assessments, site surveys, and preliminary feasibility studies.
