Mumbai property registrations rise 9 per cent in October
Registrations reached 12,690 units despite seasonal disruptions from the Shraddh period and Navratri.
Property registrations in Mumbai rose 9 per cent year-on-year to 12,690 units in October 2026, according to data from the Maharashtra Department of Registration and Stamps analysed by Knight Frank India. This growth occurred despite the Shraddh period from September 26 to October 10 and fewer effective registration days during Navratri.
Stamp duty collections for the month increased by 13 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,173 crore, as reported by The Tribune. This follows a period where Mumbai recorded 11,649 units in October 2025.
The city has seen monthly registration volumes stay above 12,000 units for nine months in a row. During the nine-day Navratri period, the city recorded 4,680 property registrations.
Shishir Baijal, International Partner, Chairman and Managing Director of Knight Frank India, said the year-on-year growth reflected strong end-user demand and sustained homebuyer confidence. He noted that stable economic conditions and rising household aspirations continue to support residential demand.
Between January and October 2026, Mumbai recorded 1,32,040 property registrations, a 7 per cent increase from the previous year. Stamp duty collections for this ten-month period rose 5 per cent to Rs 11,756 crore, up from Rs 11,186 crore in the same period last year.
