Tata Motors develops new electric car codenamed Kuno to rival MG Windsor
The upcoming electric vehicle is expected to be positioned between the next-generation Nexon EV and the Sierra EV.
Tata Motors has started work on a new electric car, codenamed Kuno, which is intended to compete with the MG Windsor EV, according to a report by RushLane.
The vehicle is expected to be introduced in 2027-28 and will be positioned in the company's lineup between the next-gen Nexon EV, codenamed Garud, and the Sierra EV.
Built on the Acti.ev platform, the Kuno EV is expected to be approximately 4.3 metres long. This length is similar to the 4,295 mm length of the Windsor EV.
The Acti.ev platform features a flat floor design and a space-saving battery layout to provide a spacious cabin. This platform supports FWD, RWD, and AWD drivetrain configurations.
While specific details for the Kuno are not available, it may use battery packs and motors from the Curvv EV or the Sierra EV. The Sierra EV offers battery options of 63 kWh and 75 kWh.
The Kuno EV is expected to be manufactured at the Tata plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The company is likely aiming for a production capacity of 80,000 to 1 lakh units per year.
