Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday said that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility that every citizen must share, according to The Hawk.
The Chief Minister launched BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week 2026 and flagged off a Cyclothon at Khuman Lampak stadium in Imphal.
The weeklong programme, organised by the Manipur government from November 1 to 7, aims to promote sustainable and environmentally responsible lifestyles.
Addressing the gathering, Singh stated the initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).
He encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to adopt practices such as conserving water and energy, avoiding single-use plastics, and reducing waste.
The Chief Minister urged government departments, educational institutions, and local bodies to participate in the campaign to build a cleaner and greener Manipur.
