Honda is not leaving Karnataka, says Industries Minister MB Patil
Minister MB Patil dismissed Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy's claim that Honda Motors plans to move out of the state.
Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil on Sunday rejected claims made by Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy that Honda Motors intends to leave the state, according to reports by The Economic Times and ThePrint.
Patil described the allegations as baseless and politically motivated. He stated that such remarks could damage efforts to promote industrial growth and attract investment to Karnataka.
The minister noted that Honda has been in the state for over a decade. Since 2013, the company has manufactured two-wheelers at its Narasapura facility in Kolar district, which was allotted 135 acres of land in phases starting in 2011.
The Narasapura plant currently produces approximately 10,000 vehicles daily and employs more than 7,800 people. Honda also operates a 35-acre warehousing and distribution centre for spare parts at Adinarayana Hosahalli in Doddaballapura taluk.
Patil said Honda is preparing to start electric two-wheeler production at the Narasapura site in the coming days. He added that the state government has had no lapses in its dealings with the company and that Honda has not expressed any dissatisfaction.
Responding to Kumaraswamy's claim that the company decided to withdraw its electric vehicle project, Patil suggested the Union minister should focus on bringing more industries to Karnataka rather than making claims about companies moving to other states.
