Goa to see light rain and thundershowers on November 2 and 3

The India Meteorological Department forecasts wetter weather across the state due to two weather systems influencing the region.

Goa is expected to experience light rain or thundershowers on November 2 and 3, according to a report by Urban Acres.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Panaji, stated that two weather systems are influencing the region. These include a trough in the southeast Arabian Sea and a system over the Bay of Bengal.

This updated forecast arrives after the IMD had previously predicted rain in isolated areas for November 4 and 5. The state recorded 65.3 mm of post-monsoon rainfall in October, which was a 60.4 per cent deficit against the normal 164.8 mm.

Temperatures in the state have recently moderated. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature fell to 21.1°C, which was 2.4°C below normal, while the maximum temperature reached 36°C, or 3.3°C above normal.

M R Ramesh Kumar, chief scientist (retired) at the National Institute of Oceanography, attributed the cooling to changing winds, shifts in atmospheric circulation, and occasional rain or cloud cover. He also noted that winter cooling across the Indian subcontinent and the landfall of Cyclone Arnab on the east coast may have contributed to the decline.
