Glenn Phillips breaks world record for most runs in T20I series
The New Zealand batter finished the five-match series against India with 341 runs to surpass Phil Salt's record.
New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips set a new world record for the most runs in a bilateral T20I series during the fifth match against India at Hamilton on Sunday.
Phillips finished the series with 341 runs, breaking the previous record of 331 runs held by England's Phil Salt, who achieved that mark against the West Indies in December 2023.
The right-handed batter remained unbeaten on 65 runs off 38 balls in the final game, hitting three sixes and eight fours to help New Zealand chase down 192.
Throughout the five matches, Phillips scored one century and three fifties, maintaining an average of 113.67 and a strike rate of 185.33.
He also set a record for the most runs scored against an opposition in a year, accumulating 522 runs against India in 2026.
Despite Phillips' performance, India won the T20I series 3-2. The two teams will now play a five-match ODI series starting November 4.
