The Kerala State Electricity Board will charge 4 paise per unit for bi-monthly billed consumers and 5 paise for monthly billed consumers.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will collect a fuel surcharge in November to recover additional spending on power purchases made in September, according to The Hindu.
The surcharge will be 4 paise per unit for consumers billed bi-monthly and 5 paise per unit for those billed monthly.
This levy is intended to recoup extra spending on power purchases from six independent power producers and 12 central generating stations across the country.
Domestic consumers with a connected load of 1,000 watts or below and monthly consumption of 40 units or below are exempt from the surcharge. Green tariff consumers are also exempted from this levy.
The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for determination of Tariff) (First Amendment) Regulations allow a licensee to adjust the fuel surcharge on a monthly basis through recovery or refund.
