Explorer finds rare 1928 Bentley in abandoned UK barn
YouTube creator Colin Smith discovered the vintage 4.5 Litre Sports Tourer hidden under dust and debris.
A British urban explorer has discovered a rare 1928 Bentley 4.5 Litre Sports Tourer inside an unused barn in the United Kingdom, according to the Times of India.
Colin Smith, who produces videos for his YouTube channel The Bearded Explorer, found the vehicle under decades of dust and debris. The car features original Vanden Plas bodywork.
Bentley produced approximately 720 examples of the 4.5 Litre model between 1927 and 1931. Of these, Vanden Plas fitted bodies to 204 cars, with 148 built as open four-seat tourers like the one discovered.
The model features a naturally aspirated 4.4-litre inline-four engine that produced 110 horsepower when new. While registration records suggest the car originally had black paint, historians have not confirmed if the current paint is original.
Smith stated that a seven-figure valuation is realistic once the car is authenticated and restored, though he noted it is not as valuable as the supercharged Blower models.
Experts must now conduct detailed checks to confirm the car's identity and history. Specialists need to establish a clear ownership history and ensure the original identification numbers on the chassis, engine, and gearbox match.
