Collector directs officials to expedite Warangal super-speciality hospital works

District Collector Chahat Bajpai inspected the ongoing construction of the ₹1,371 crore hospital to ensure timely completion of pending works.

District Collector Chahat Bajpai on Sunday directed officials and the construction agency to speed up pending works at the Warangal Multi-Super-Speciality Hospital. According to The Hindu, the inspection follows several missed deadlines for the completion of the project.

The Collector reviewed progress with officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), and the construction agency. She requested details regarding completed components and works that are yet to be started.

The 24-storey hospital is being built at an estimated cost of ₹1,371 crore. It is intended to strengthen tertiary healthcare in north Telangana and reduce the burden on the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Warangal.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy previously expressed displeasure regarding delays, despite funds being released through the green channel mechanism. He had directed officials to ensure round-the-clock construction and prepare a time-bound action plan.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had announced that outpatient services would begin on October 20, ahead of a formal inauguration after December 15. However, the launch was postponed as authorities decided to conduct a trial run after necessary preparations.

The inspection included R&B Superintending Engineer Suresh Babu, GWMC Superintending Engineer Raj Kumar, and R&B Executive Engineer Devika Chauhan.
