One Class 10 student was moved to a private hospital in Bengaluru for advanced medical care after a chainsaw attack at a government school in Anantapur district, according to the Deccan Herald.

The incident occurred at Raptadu Zilla Parishad High School when a man allegedly entered a classroom and attacked two girls with a chainsaw, police said.

Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Saturday that the student transferred to Bengaluru had sustained severe injuries, including the loss of her right hand, damage to her neck and face, and fractures to her skull and ribs.

The minister stated that the girl was in critical condition and required 10 units of blood to manage bleeding after receiving initial care at Anantapur Government General Hospital.

A second girl, identified as a Dalit, was injured while attempting to protect her classmate. She sustained a fracture and cuts to her ankle and is currently undergoing treatment.

The alleged attacker, who is from Naguluru village, remains untraceable as of 7 pm on Saturday, according to Yadav. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said he has directed police to find the individual responsible.
