CBI takes over investigation into missing Tripura State Rifles personnel
The Central Bureau of Investigation will probe the 2012 disappearance of Subhash Chandra Bose, a rifleman from Ernakulam district.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has assumed responsibility for investigating the disappearance of Subhash Chandra Bose, a 27-year-old man from Ernakulam. The move follows a direction from the Kerala High Court regarding the case of the Tripura State Rifles personnel who went missing in April 2012.
Bose, a rifleman with the Third Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles, disappeared while returning to his workplace in Tripura. He had been serving in the force for seven years prior to the incident.
The CBI Special Crime Branch filed a re-registered FIR before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on October 28. This follows a petition filed last month by Bose's father, P K Balan.
On April 3, 2012, Bose left Ernakulam Junction at 9.20 pm on the Ernakulam-Guwahati Express. He was travelling without a reservation on a general ticket.
Bose last spoke to his mother on April 5, stating his mobile recharge was low. His family discovered he had not reported for duty in Dhalai district on April 10, 2012.
The Kerala High Court directed the CBI to take over investigations involving both the Ernakulam Railway Police and the Visakhapatnam Government Railway Police.
