Captain Chowta opposes proposal to revise Gomateshwara Express timings

Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta has requested the Railway Ministry to reconsider shifting the departure and arrival times of two express trains.

Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta has opposed a Railway Ministry proposal to change the departure timings of two express trains from Mangaluru. In a letter to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday, October 31, the MP expressed his objection to the proposed schedule changes.

The proposal involves shifting the departure of Train No. 16576, the Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur tri-weekly Gomateshwara Express, and Train No. 16540, the Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur weekly Express, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. This change would move the arrival time at Yeshwantpur from 4:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

Captain Chowta stated that the current daytime service is a widely used connection for students, working professionals, business travellers, patients, and families. He noted that the existing schedule allows passengers to travel during the day and arrive in Bengaluru at a reasonable hour.

The MP said that moving the departure to later in the morning and the arrival to late at night would cause significant trouble for those using the service for work, education, or medical appointments. He requested the Ministry of Railways and South Western Railway to retain the current timings.

Captain Chowta told the Ministry that any schedule changes for established services should occur after consulting with stakeholders and considering passenger needs.
