Punjab CM transfers Rs 1,291 crore to 37 lakh women

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched the next phase of the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana in Abohar on Sunday.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann transferred Rs 1,291 crore directly into the bank accounts of 37.43 lakh women across Punjab on Sunday. According to The Tribune, the Chief Minister launched the next phase of the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana during an event in Abohar.

Mann stated that 80.05 lakh women had registered under the scheme as of October 29. He said the government is working towards a target of covering one crore women.

During the address, Mann alleged that the maximum number of sacrilege incidents in Punjab occurred during the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) regime. He also criticised SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal regarding the current state of the party.

The event saw the presence of AAP Punjab president Aman Arora and Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur. Abohar AAP halqa in-charge Suhani Doda was also present alongside the Chief Minister.

Gunwant Singh Sandhu, general secretary of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Khosa), Punjab, alleged that 5 to 8 kg per quintal is being deducted during paddy procurement due to moisture and quality issues. He said farmers intended to raise this with the Chief Minister.

Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar alleged he was denied an opportunity to meet the Chief Minister. Jakhar claimed police confined him to a hospital where family members of Ajay Kumar had been protesting for two weeks.
