Tamil Nadu government to consider separate state flag, says Minister Rajmohan

Minister Rajmohan stated on Sunday that the government may introduce a distinct flag similar to those used by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Tamil Nadu Minister Rajmohan said on Sunday that the state government would consider introducing a separate flag for Tamil Nadu. He noted that this would be similar to the flags adopted by Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and other states.

The Minister stated that the government intends to take further steps regarding a distinct state flag in the future. This follows the official recognition of November 1 as Tamil Nadu Day.

Rajmohan also said that Chief Minister Joseph Vijay would soon consider a proposal to declare November 1 a public holiday across the state.

Tamil Nadu was initially created as Madras State on November 1, 1956, during a reorganisation based on linguistic lines.

The state was officially renamed Tamil Nadu on July 18, 1967, after a resolution was unanimously passed in the Madras State Legislative Assembly under Chief Minister CN Annadurai.
