Telangana Model Schools staff continue protests over salary and pension demands
Staff of 197 Model Schools staged lunch-break protests across the state on Saturday to address long-pending issues.
Staff members of 197 Model Schools in Telangana entered a second day of protests on Saturday, demanding that the state government address several long-pending issues, according to Telangana Today.
The Model Schools Joint Action Committee (JAC) called for the protests, which involved teachers wearing black badges and staging demonstrations during lunch breaks in schools across the state.
Steering committee members Bhootham Yakamallu, Tarala Jagadish, Kondaiah, and Raju demanded that the government pay salaries under the 010 head of account.
The staff also sought compassionate appointments, gratuity, and family pension benefits for the families of deceased teachers, the JAC stated.
Other demands include the release of arrears for five pending DA instalments, notional benefits for trained graduate teachers, and the implementation of GO 317 to provide promotions to eligible teachers.
The JAC said protests will continue as per the announced schedule and warned that a state-level protest will be organised in Hyderabad on November 17 if the government fails to address the demands.
