Rajasthan places IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on awaiting posting list

The move follows an Anti-Corruption Bureau investigation into her husband, IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal, regarding alleged property irregularities.

The Rajasthan government on Saturday placed senior IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on the awaiting posting orders (APO) list for administrative reasons, according to a Times Now report. Mathur, a 1995-batch officer, was serving as Additional Director General of Police (Planning, Modernisation and Welfare) in Jaipur.

The action comes after her husband, 1993-batch IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal, was placed on the APO list on October 28. Agrawal, who served as Additional Chief Secretary of Industries, is facing an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigation into alleged irregularities involving the purchase of 40 villas and cottages.

The ACB is investigating allegations that Agrawal, his wife, and other family members purchased properties in Udaipur and Alwar districts from a hotel and resort company at prices substantially below market value. ACB Director General Govind Gupta said a preliminary inquiry found prima facie evidence that Agrawal allegedly misused his official position to provide undue benefits to a private company.

The bureau is examining claims that Agrawal facilitated construction relaxations, approvals without proper certificate verification, and a special financial package for the company. The ACB is also looking into allegations that 20 villas were registered in Agrawal's name on March 27, the same day a special financial package was issued to the company.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate. Gehlot questioned why the properties were allegedly sold for Rs 15 lakh each and alleged that the ACB, which functions under the chief minister, might not investigate independently.
