Rajasthan places IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on APO amid corruption probe

The move follows an investigation into her husband, IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal, regarding alleged irregular property deals.

The Rajasthan government on Saturday placed senior IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on awaiting posting orders (APO) for administrative reasons, according to The New Indian Express. Mathur, a 1995-batch officer, was serving as the additional director general of police for planning, modernisation and welfare.

The action follows a similar move against her husband, IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal, who was removed from his posts on October 28 and 29. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating claims that Agrawal used his official position to provide unfair advantages to Goyal Fashions Pvt Ltd, a company that runs the Ananta brand of hotels and resorts.

ACB Director General Govind Gupta said a preliminary inquiry was started after the bureau reviewed media reports and information from confidential sources. The investigation, authorised under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, is looking into whether Agrawal colluded with company directors to secure relaxed construction rules and special financial packages.

Preliminary findings suggest the couple and their family purchased 40 villas and cottages at prices significantly lower than market rates. In Udaipur, Agrawal and Mathur allegedly bought 10 villas each for Rs 15 lakh per unit in March 2026. In Alwar, eight villas were reportedly bought in their names for Rs 16.5 lakh each, while others were registered to their sons and in-laws.

The ACB is also checking if the property registrations coincided with official benefits, noting that 20 villas were allegedly registered on the same day the Finance Department approved a special package for the company. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot has called for a CBI and ED probe into the matter.
