Odisha can become a global investment hub, says Mukesh Mahaling

Electronics and Information Technology Minister Mukesh Mahaling highlighted the state's natural resources and industrial policies at the TiECon Bhubaneswar 2026 summit.

Electronics and Information Technology Minister Mukesh Mahaling said on Friday that Odisha is set to become a global investment destination and an economic driver for eastern India.

Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘TiECon Bhubaneswar 2026: Odisha Leap Up Summit’ in Bhubaneswar, Mahaling noted that the state possesses competitive advantages such as surplus energy, land, water, and natural resources.

He stated that the state is ready to draw investments in sectors including semiconductors, information technology, metals, advanced manufacturing, and downstream industries.

Additional chief secretary (E&IT) Vishal Dev said five semiconductor projects are currently in progress in the state, with proposed investments of more than $4 billion.

Additional chief secretary (Industries) Hemant Sharma said entrepreneurship is driving the state's shift from an agrarian economy to a diversified industrial one.

The event also saw the launch of the TiE Bhubaneswar Academy and TiE Bhubaneswar HNI Connect to support entrepreneurship and business networks.
