Kalyana Karnataka teacher recruitment does not need finance department approval, says Namoshi

BJP leader Shashil Namoshi claims the 371J amendment allows filling permanent teaching vacancies without financial concurrence.

BJP leader Shashil Namoshi stated that the recruitment of permanent teachers in the Kalyana Karnataka region does not require concurrence from the Finance Department. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Namoshi noted that the 371J constitutional amendment provides special status to the region, which should prevent delays in filling vacant posts in government schools.

Namoshi, who recently won the Karnataka North-East Teachers’ Constituency election to the Legislative Council for the fifth time, said the government must expedite the recruitment process. He mentioned that while the Chief Minister stated permission was granted to fill 80 per cent of vacancies, there are conflicting claims regarding approval from the Finance Department.

The MLC also highlighted that government teachers face disruptions due to non-academic duties, such as electoral roll revisions, surveys, and mid-day meal distribution. He said he would consult the Education Minister to relieve teachers of these responsibilities to allow more time in classrooms.

Addressing administrative issues, Namoshi said the lack of a full-time Additional Commissioner for the School Education Department in the Kalaburagi division affects functioning. He also suggested appointing a dedicated officer to oversee every few government schools to help monitor learning and support staff.

Namoshi further noted that nearly 25 per cent of headmaster positions remain vacant. He also expressed opposition to a government order requiring PU college lecturers to teach Classes 9 and 10, stating these lecturers are not trained in school-level teaching methodologies.
