Mysuru hotel owners urge government to roll back milk price hike

The Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association stated that the increase will burden the industry and raise food prices for consumers.

The Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association has requested the State government to withdraw a ₹8 per litre increase in milk prices, according to The Hindu reported on Saturday.

Association president C. Narayanagowda and other office-bearers held a press conference in Mysuru to address the hike.

The association noted that milk prices have risen by almost ₹17 per litre during the last three years.

Narayanagowda said the industry is already dealing with higher costs for electricity, water tariffs, municipal taxes, and wages, alongside rising prices for sugar, rice, vegetables, onions, jaggery, and cooking gas.

The association argued that the government should provide financial aid or direct subsidies to dairy farmers rather than raising prices for consumers.

They stated that the hike would increase the cost of milk-based items like paneer, ghee, and curd, while also affecting the hotel industry's ability to survive.
