Low-pressure system may intensify into depression by November 2
The weather system is expected to reach the Andhra Pradesh coast by the evening of November 2, according to the IMD.
A low-pressure system near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is expected to intensify into a depression before reaching the Andhra Pradesh coast on the evening of November 2, according to reports by Business Standard and Telangana Today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Saturday that the system, which was located over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, has become a well-marked low-pressure area.
Manorama Mohanty, the director of the meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar, said the system is moving in a west-north-westward direction and is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours.
Mohanty added that the IMD is monitoring the progress of the system and will provide further updates, noting that clear information regarding the possible impact on Odisha is not yet available.
The IMD has predicted that some districts in Odisha may experience light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers.
The weather system follows the very severe cyclonic storm Arnab, which made landfall on the morning of October 28, affecting Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
