Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marries Nidhi Razdan

The 56-year-old Chief Minister announced his marriage to the 49-year-old journalist on social media on Saturday.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah married television journalist Nidhi Razdan on Friday. The marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act in Srinagar, according to sources.

Abdullah announced the news on social media on Saturday, stating, “a new journey began yesterday...” and tagging Razdan. Razdan confirmed the news on X, writing, “It’s done bro.”

Wedding functions were held in Srinagar and New Delhi. Attendees included Abdullah's parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, his three sisters, and close relatives, as well as Razdan's parents, M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.

Abdullah's marriage to his first wife, Payal, was dissolved by the Supreme Court in July this year. The court agreed to dissolve the marriage after both parties reached a mutual settlement and agreed to withdraw cases against each other.

Abdullah and Payal married in 1994 and have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. The couple had been living separately since 2009 before the Supreme Court order.

This is the second marriage for 49-year-old Razdan.
