Amite Hasan joins Bangladesh squad for second West Indies Test

Wicketkeeper-batter Amite Hasan replaces Mominul Haque, who is unavailable due to a head injury.

Bangladesh has named wicketkeeper-batter Amite Hasan to the 15-member squad for the second Test against West Indies in Sylhet, according to ANI. Hasan replaces Mominul Haque, who sustained a head injury while fielding during the first match of the World Test Championship series.

The ICC stated that Haque was replaced by concussion substitute Jaker Ali during the opening Test. Under ICC concussion protocols, Haque is required to undergo a minimum seven-day stand-down period before he can play again.

The 23-year-old Hasan, who played his first Test against Zimbabwe in June, has a domestic first-class record of 4,040 runs in 54 matches at an average of 50.50. The second Test is scheduled to begin on November 5.

Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the squad, which includes Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Jaker Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Taijul Islam, Shoriful Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed, and Ebadot Hossain.

Bangladesh enters the match trailing 0-1 after an eight-wicket loss in the first Test. In that game, West Indies openers Brandon King and John Campbell shared a century stand, with King finishing on 81 not out and Campbell scoring 49.

The defeat caused Bangladesh to drop from fourth to fifth in the World Test Championship standings. Jomel Warrican took nine wickets during the first match to help West Indies secure their victory.
