Amite Hasan joins Bangladesh squad for second West Indies Test
Wicketkeeper-batter Amite Hasan replaces Mominul Haque, who is unavailable due to a head injury.
Bangladesh has named wicketkeeper-batter Amite Hasan to the 15-member squad for the second Test against West Indies in Sylhet, according to ANI. Hasan replaces senior batter Mominul Haque, who was ruled out following a head injury sustained while fielding during the first Test.
The ICC stated that Haque was replaced by concussion substitute Jaker Ali during the opening match. Under ICC concussion protocols, Haque is required to undergo a rest period of at least seven days before he can play again.
The 23-year-old Hasan, who debuted against Zimbabwe in June, has a domestic first-class record of 4,040 runs in 54 matches at an average of 50.50. The second Test is scheduled to begin on November 5.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the squad, which includes players such as Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Taskin Ahmed. The team currently trails 0-1 in the series after an eight-wicket loss in the first match.
In the series opener, West Indies chased a target of 170, aided by an unbeaten 81 from Brandon King and 49 from John Campbell. Jomel Warrican took nine wickets in the match to help the visitors secure victory.
The loss caused Bangladesh to drop from fourth to fifth place in the World Test Championship standings.
