Maharashtra FDA to continue legal proceedings against Ajay Devgn
FDA Commissioner Tukaram Munde confirmed the department will proceed with adjudication despite the actor challenging the notice in the Bombay High Court.
Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Munde confirmed on Sunday that the department will continue legal proceedings against actor Ajay Devgn. This comes after Devgn approached the Bombay High Court to challenge the notice regarding a Vimal Elaichi advertisement.
Munde told ANI that adjudication proceedings had already been initiated. He stated that the department will follow the law even though the actor has moved the High Court.
The FDA has issued show-cause and legal notices to Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, and Tiger Shroff. The department alleges the Vimal Elaichi advertisements act as surrogate promotions for tobacco and pan masala products, which are prohibited.
On October 30, Munde said that all three individuals named in the proceedings had responded to the notices and requested more time to submit replies.
The Assistant Commissioner has completed the initial hearings. The matter has been forwarded to the Joint Commissioner for the next decision in the adjudication process.
