Rajasthan IPS officer placed on APO after ACB probe into husband
Senior officer Prashakha Mathur was sent on awaiting posting orders following an investigation into her husband's alleged property acquisitions.
The Rajasthan government on Saturday placed senior IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on Awaiting Posting Orders (APO). According to reports from The Hindu and ANI, the move follows an approved Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigation into her husband, IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal.
The ACB has been authorised to conduct a detailed probe under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018. The investigation concerns the alleged purchase of 40 villas from a single private company, Goyal Fashions Private Limited, which operates the Ananta brand.
The agency is looking into claims that Agrawal misused his official capacity to provide advantages to the firm. These alleged benefits include relaxed construction conditions, approvals granted without verifying mandatory certificates, and a special financial package.
The ACB has registered a Preliminary Enquiry based on media reports and confidential information, according to ACB Director General Govind Gupta. The probe will examine if the transactions involved properties bought below market value and if the family acquired assets disproportionate to their known income.
The villas were reportedly purchased in the names of Agrawal, Mathur, their two sons, and Agrawal's in-laws. Mathur, a 1995-batch officer, previously served as Additional Director General of Police for Planning, Modernisation, and Welfare.
