The family of the slain activist will perform his last rites in Mansa on Sunday.
The autopsy of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota was conducted at PGIMER in Chandigarh on Saturday, November 7, 2026, according to The Hindu. Following the post-mortem, his body was handed over to his family.
Jhota was shot dead in broad daylight on October 13 at a medical store in a Mansa marketplace. He had been confronting the shop owner regarding the illegal sale of addictive substances to an elderly person. The store owner was later arrested.
The cremation is scheduled to take place at his native place in Mansa on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Family members told ANI that they plan to welcome his remains with flower petals to honour his fight against drug abuse.
Jhota's father, Bhim Singh, has continued an indefinite hunger strike in Chandigarh. The Times of India reported that he is demanding the transfer of Mansa SSP Vaibhav Chaudhary and refused to eat anything except water.
Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said he would speak with Singh after the cremation to address the issue. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has re-registered the murder case and started a detailed investigation into the killing.
